I LOVE MAY DAY! Hi Readers! Do any of you remember May Day as the day we used to run around the neighborhood and put little bouquets of flowers on the neighbor's doorsteps, ring the bell, and run away? I do! I also remember picking their flowers to offer back to them! ha! Well, I may be too old to get away with picking my neighbor's flowers and have them think it's cute, but something about spring makes me feel more alive after a long, cold winter, and I go in search of a spirited heroine to...

We've all heard the saying, "You can't judge a book by it's cover." I confess, I do it all the time. Not only do I judge the book, I buy the book FOR the cover! I can't tell you how many books I have happily displayed on my shelves just for the sake of the artwork on the cover. The other sad truth is, if I don't care for a cover, I generally won't buy the book. I am a very visual kind of gal. This is exactly why I was drawn to Linda Weaver Clarke and her fabulous books. I LOVE her covers! I...

If you're like me, my reading selections change with the seasons and holidays. I'm easily influenced visually. When the first snow comes, I have to either read or write a holiday story. Now that all of the twinkling, colored lights are turning to red hearts and Valentines, I find myself looking for sweet love stories--hopefully ones that involve a little chocolate inside those shiny red heart-shaped boxes. I'm really excited about the Valentine sampler Foget Me Not Romances just released:...

The story writing process differs greatly from author to author. I thought it might be fun to take you along on my writing adventure this time. As I have mentioned before, many of my story ideas are triggered by a simple photo. This cat, alone, is responsible for the idea of PURR-suasion. There's just something about a cat with little boots on, and a cape, and a hat, and a sword, that cannot be left alone. The idea of a cat playing Matchmaker came to mind when I saw him. I also love Jane...

2017 began with writing for Forget Me Not Romances. I found a home for Dawn's Gentle Light, and was encouraged to write some more romantic novellas.....so I did! I reworked Happy Camper, Summer of the Carousel, and Farley's Five and Dime. I wrote Always Kiss Me Goodbye, The Reluctant Cowgirl, The Scullery Maid's Day Off, A Chance of Rain, Jackson's Treasure, Liza of Green Gables, and Sweetwater Cafe. Looking back, I am thankful to have had so many books come out in one year, which means I have...

This title says it all when we come to the final countdown toward Christmas. Running out of Christmastime is often where we find ourselves 3 days before Christmas. But it doesn't have to be this way if we change our expectations and perception of what Christmas should really be about. My friend Cindy Amos has helped me to slow down and enjoy a sweet cozy read by the fire that reminds me of family, good friends, kind relationships , and ultimately, the Birth of Christ. I love that her stories...

Dearest Reader Friends~ I love the simple things that help to keep the Christmas season joyful and peaceful; the wonder of falling snow, smiles on the faces of kids, curling up by the fire with a good book, and one of my pets. I have always been into small cute and cozy things. Along those lines I just wrote my first novelette, which is one size shoter than a novella, which is one size shorter than a novel. I'm kind of excited to get my first copy of the paperback version of Sweetwater Cafe...

If there is one thing I enjoy in my writing world as much, if not more than writing, it's creating my book covers. I absolutely love it! Why? Because it gives me a window into my next story before it's even written. I am a very visual person. Surprisingly, I can come up with an entire premise and vision for a story just from an image that resonates with me. If my publisher asks "Who would like to be in a historical Christmas collection?" I hop over to Bigstock's photo gallery and plow through...

Tis the season! I LOVE curling up by my fire with a good old fashioned Christmas Story. When I was 7 years old I got Little House in the Big Woods for Christmas. My family decided to go snow skiing in the mountains that day but I somehow talked my mom into leaving me in the car with my book, for about 4 or 5 hours while the rest of the family went skiing while I read my book. You have to remember this was the year 1966 and things like this were considered somewhat normal. Needless to say I had a...

In the hustle and bustle that comes with the season, laughter really is the best medicine. One of my favorite memories as a writer, is sitting alone at my computer, the only one at home, laughing my head off until I’m crying about something one of my characters has just done in my story. I know that sounds a little strange, and you may be wondering what my character could possibly have done that is so funny. So I’ll tell you. Nine out of ten times, it’s something I did myself that was...
